Tour des Trees 2008
The TREE Fund Tour des Trees has become known for its fun-loving, supportive group of men and women of all ages and professions who enjoy road biking, great scenery, and making a difference in the future health and beauty of community trees. The Tour des Trees is the signature event of the Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund (TREE Fund), a 501(c)3 organization. It is a 5 to 7 day cycling event that covers distances up to and over 500 miles. Tour des Trees riders participate in public education programs and tree planting events to help raise community awareness of the importance of urban and community trees and forests. They also help the TREE Fund raise money for the research and education programs it supports. This film covers the most recent Tour des Trees. I highly encourage you to join us on next year’s ride. Support Our Schools Rally
A community rally sponsored by Support Our Schools, a citizen group formed to defend quality public education programs put on the chopping block after the state of Indiana did not living up to its funding obligations to public education. Monroe County School officials are dismantling core elements of public education. Elementary and middle school librarians have been cut and over 15 percent of the teachers in the corporation have been given Reduction in Force notices. Cuts also include innovative one of a kind education programs started by former Monroe County educators like the outdoor education program at Bradford Woods and the Honey Creek one-room school house.
